About J2 Gems

We grew up in Central Texas and met in our hometown church. Marriage came two years later while attending Texas A&M University. Following Jim’s Ph.D. and several years in the oil industry, we eventually moved to Alaska where we raised our two daughters. Many of the stories in our book The Screaming Stone were sourced by nearly 20 years of Alaskan adventures.

Jim has a Ph.D. in geochemistry. Although now partially retired, he was a technology specialist for a Global Fortune 500 oil company. Jana has her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy and has a private practice as a mental health clinician. Both have been active throughout their marriage in large church leadership in which they taught, led small group activities, and served as marriage mentors. They recently moved to middle Tennessee to be close to their kids and grandkids.

Jim and Jana are passionate about encouraging others through various types of speaking engagements. Jim utilizes his technical background to teach Science and the Bible, and Jana professionally speaks on various topics to help people move from surviving to thriving. Together, their individual speaking styles spark creativity to provide a fun and interesting team.

Jim loves to design and cut gemstones and Jana loves wearing them. Their most precious gems are their four grandchildren.
